description
Campus is one big puzzle room; between classes players explore a sprawling, secret-filled hub with mysterious passage ways, hidden tunnels, and dangerous traps. It is an open world escape room setting with plenty of side content, including Extra Credit side quests given by other students (e.g., a sudoku puzzle in the cafeteria).
setting_note
Described as an all-new campus in the sequel.
arrival
Players reach the Academy by tram from Escape Shack Station: they need $3 and the destination code for Escape Academy, entered via a three-symbol machine near the ticket kiosk (symbols matched from the tram stops map on the wall; each rotating dial has coloured lines — red and yellow, blue and red, blue and yellow).
layout
The campus is organized around a main quad. The Arts campus is to the right from the main quad, reached through a gate; within it the Theater Workshop is to the left of the main gate, and the Costume Shop is the blue building up the first set of stairs. A courtyard contains a zipline leading in front of the school, and a Clocktower marks the tallest point on the map. There is also a cafeteria (with a sudoku side puzzle) and a lower Science campus.

history_lore
A plaque in a hidden chamber reads: "This chamber was built for ALISTAIR BELL the FOUNDER of DIAMONDS. He was IMPRISONED here for his BETRAYAL against THE ACADEMY." The Academy is also referenced as having old friends (e.g., "The Big RevEEL" achievement involves making contact with an old friend of the Academy).
progression
Players unlock the Science Campus and the Humanities Campus through story progression. Story milestones include completing "No Ticket", "A Clued Awakening", first assignment ("Locked In"), "That Rings a Bell", "Lightbulb Moment", "The Second Chamber", "The Third Chamber", "Eye of the Brain Storm", "Mind Your Elders", "Von Boyage", and "Von But Not Forgotten", culminating in surviving the second year ("Escape The Academy").
economy
The Academy uses Escape Bucks as currency; the first Escape Buck is found during the tutorial in the vent or the telephone booth. Ziplines can be purchased in the courtyard.
